I improve organizational performance by removing the barriers which prevent excellence in education by improving and aligning its strategies, people, and processes. Some success stories reflecting my service offerings include:

  • New Curriculum Model.  A large online teaching university was struggling with developing meaningful practical programs for its Ph.D. students. I assessed the learning readiness of the students and change readiness of the organization, and implemented a new practical course which has increased enrollment by 20%.

  • Improved Employment Opportunities for Students through Public - Private Partnerships. Students at a mid-size satellite campus of a large private university were having difficulty finding projects for a capstone course requiring a practicum. We assessed its current programs and student readiness for change; developed partnerships with local businesses, governments, and nonprofits; and instituted internships and public-private partnerships which created both new practicum opportunities for education and the potential for follow-on employment for students.

  • Improving Student Housing Occupancy. A mid-size specialty college facing new competition for quality students was anticipating challenges in keeping its student dorms and apartments filled with the right type of students. We examined their housing practices, student demographics, and student preferences, and made recommendations to revise their application and selection processes for student housing which improved occupancy and reduced turnover by 15%.

  • Hiring the Right People. A mid-sized ($500M in assets) credit union with international offices was concerned about hiring the right person for their vacant Chief Operating Officer position. We developed an applicant screening process which enabled the hiring committee to accurately assess candidates' abilities which resulted in their making offer to a stellar performer.

  • Instructional Strategy Alignment and Culture Change. A large urban school district was suffering from low student test scores, poor faculty morale, and instructional programs which were not realizing expected results. We assessed their programs, faculty preparedness, program implementation, and culture, and made recommendations which improved student test scores, teacher morale, and preparedness, and enabled programs to exceed desired results.

  • Organizational Assessment and Redesign. A large urban school district was not performing at the level of excellence which was demanded by its Board, the State, and district parents. We assessed and made specific recommendations for a new organization structure and communications strategies which resulted in greater coherence in instruction; better communications between stakeholder groups; improved accountability; enhanced teacher and staff morale; bettered union relations; and improved student test scores.

  • Strategic Planning and Implementation. A mid-market systems-integration company was losing market share and was concerned about a possible brain drain among its employees. We facilitated and coached executives and staff though an organization-wide strategic planning and implementation process that helped the firm regain profitability; increased net profits by 35%; and improved retention by creating a dynamic environment of teamwork, shared strategies and goals, and results.

  • Education and Professional Development. A large professional organization was struggling with providing value to its membership and was losing members. One of the key deficiencies was that there were no formalized opportunities for professional development for its members. I developed and implemented the first integrated professional development distance learning program for management consultants in North America, including faculty recruiting and development; educational curriculum (including consulting certification courses and specializations); strategic alliances; administration and operations; marketing; and led the team of 40 faculty and administrators. The Academy was profitable in its first year and offered over 30 courses.

  • Strategic Reorganization with Financial Savings. A large international airport was suffering from poor performance due to a lack of vision and operational excellence. I assessed their key operational and political issues, and developed and implemented an enterprise-wide reorganization and staffing plan which resulted in savings of $25 million in operating costs while increasing productivity by 7% and morale by 10%.

  • Improved Training and Operational Readiness with Cost Savings. A large overseas governmental organization was spending excessively to maintain operational readiness. I developed a comprehensive employee training curricula (19 new courses in a 6 month period) and implemented strategic cost-sharing models among several government organizations located on the same base which realized annual savings of $375,000 in training costs (35% of annual training budget) while enabling them to meet 100% of their operational commitments.

  • Increased Productivity, Profitability, and Innovation. A US Government agency was suffering from a los of productivity and innovation due to a cut in funding and new governmental regulations. We increased their innovation potential, productivity, and profitability by leveraging organizational efficiencies, resolving command and control issues, and improving communications among parent and sister organizations. The new strategies ultimately injected new life into the organization and resolved its financial challenges.

  • Racial Discrimination and Sexual Harassment Issues. A large overseas governmental organization was struggling with issues involving racial discrimination and sexual harassment. We conducted an intervention which diffused the situation, resolved the foundational issues, and brought harmony and efficiency back to the organization.

  • eCommerce Strategic Planning and Implementation. Two federally chartered credit unions ($500 million in assets respectively) desired to increase their number of members and assets under control. We developed eBusiness strategies which expanded their reach into new markets, significantly increased membership and revenues, improved profitability, and helped them establish a huge competitive advantage over their competition.

  • Market Leadership through eCommerce/eBusiness. A Fortune 250 computer manufacturer desired to change the landscape of selling computers through using the Internet as its primary sales channel. I helped develop and implement its enterprise-wide eCommerce businesses strategies and processes which enabled it to become the #1 seller of computers in the industry. In the first year alone, revenues increased by $250 million and profits by 10%.
